Incontinence in Women

You may have a little leak spring and think that you are alone. The problem with incontinence in women is not as severe as you may think. In fact, many women deal with this problem. It can be large or small. No matter how limited your leak or how often it happens, you have to deal with it face on and then do what you can do get your life back. There are often medical reasons for incontinence that you can clear up or work on with a little effort. It happens to more people than you know, so stop feeling embarrassed and ask New River Urology.

Incontinence in women often happens while a woman is pregnant or afterward. This is pretty common and most pregnant women report at least some leakage near the end of or right after having a baby. One reason this happens is because the baby weighs down on the bladder and causes a loss of control. Some women simply sneeze and some comes out. After the baby is born, the muscles in that area have loosened up. There are exercises that you can do to tighten these up. Talk to us for instructions.

Some women encounter incontinence as they age. This problem can sometimes be cleared up with simple exercises. At times, when this happens because of age, it may be due to some medical problem. If you suddenly have problems with incontinence, you should make an appointment with a urologist to rule out any medical issues. This can be a problem for men too, so always check first medical reasons for the problem. If you find none, it may be something you can clear up on your own at home with little problem remaining.

There are times when this problem is worse for those that suffer. For many, spring, summer and fall allergies cause sneezing, which will cause some urine leakage for people that have problems. If you have allergies, get on the right medication and remember to wear what you need to protect your clothing. If you sneeze a lot, try your exercises and try sitting when you feel a sneeze coming on. That will give you a little more control. Accidents happen though, so be prepared in the best way you can.

There are many products for incontinence in women and men alike. These come in the form of pads, which women will find to be much like the ones that they were during a period. These come in different sizes and absorbency. Choose one that will hold just what you need and remember to change them often. As with your period, anything collected can start to smell and should be changed often to avoid embarrassing odors. There are also diaper-like products that you can buy, but those are usually only needed when there are bigger problems with bladder control.
